There’s no hiding in the bigger space. No overthinking. Just feeling. Trusting. Letting go.
She appeared on brown paper—raw, unpolished, open. There’s something about painting on paper that makes me loosen up. It’s not precious, so I don’t hold back. I used graphite, charcoal, and acrylic, letting her take form intuitively. She carries the weight of loss, the depth of change, and the quiet strength that comes with both. Losing my dad and my mother-in-law only months apart has been heavy. Painting is how I move through it. It takes away the worry, gives me space to process, to breathe, to heal. And in the process, I’m becoming a new version of myself. It’s scary, but it’s necessary. I’m building, stumbling, and figuring it out as I go. She rises. And so do I.
